5.1 Opinion on Price Reasonableness Only
A Honest Fix quote audit is our opinion, based on the information you provide and general market data, on whether a contractor's quoted price appears to fall within, above, or outside a fair-market range. The result is one of: Fair, Slightly High, High, or Cannot Tell. These are opinions, not determinations.
5.2 What the Audit Is Not
A quote audit is not: a guarantee that you will save money; a representation that the contractor's work is correctly scoped or code-compliant; a verification of the contractor's license, insurance, bond, or workmanship; an appraisal or inspection; or legal or financial advice.
5.3 Accuracy Depends on Your Inputs
The reliability of any audit depends on the completeness and accuracy of the information you provide, including scope of work, materials specified, and other quote details. Vague or incomplete descriptions produce less reliable results. Low-confidence results are returned as "Cannot Tell."
5.4 Market Conditions Vary
Home-repair prices vary significantly by geography, season, material costs, contractor demand, and project complexity. Our data reflects general market conditions and may not represent your specific location or market at the time of the quote.
5.5 No Verification of Contractor Quality
Whether to use the audit result in negotiations is your decision. Honest Fix is not responsible for the quality of any contractor's work, cost overruns, or the outcome of any negotiation.
5.6 For Significant Projects
For significant projects, generally involving structural, electrical, or mechanical systems, or any project above $3,000, we recommend obtaining two or three competing bids from licensed contractors before deciding, regardless of the audit result. The $3,000 threshold matches Utah Code § 58-55-301's threshold above which unlicensed contracting work is restricted in Utah.
