Privacy Policy

2.1 What We Collect

We do not use a separate third-party analytics tool. Usage and device data are collected through our technology provider, Rivvet AI. We do not collect precise GPS location. We use approximate location, such as city or ZIP code, to localize price ranges.

2.2 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide and operate the Service; process payments through Stripe; train, evaluate, and improve our AI models using photos and quote data you upload (see Section 2.3); communicate with you about your account and purchases; send marketing communications where you have consented (see the Marketing Consent Terms); detect and prevent fraud and security incidents; and comply with legal obligations.

2.3 AI Training: Disclosure and Consent

We use photos and quote data you upload to train, fine-tune, and improve the AI models that power the Service. Your User Content may be reviewed, processed, and incorporated into model training datasets.

Before your first upload, you will be asked to separately confirm, through an unchecked-by-default checkbox, that you consent to this use; accepting our Terms alone is not the consent mechanism for that specific use. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting caleb@honestfixapp.com and requesting exclusion from future training. Withdrawal does not affect prior training runs and we cannot retroactively remove your content from model weights already trained.

2.4 How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with: (a) service providers that help us operate the Service, each bound by a data-processing agreement; (b) government authorities when required by law or to protect safety; (c) successors in a merger or acquisition, with prior notice if the policy changes materially; and (d) other parties with your explicit consent.

2.5 Subprocessors

We work with the following subprocessors to help us operate the Service: Stripe, Inc., which processes payments on our behalf (see Stripe's Privacy Policy at stripe.com/privacy for how Stripe handles your data); and Rivvet AI, our technology provider, which supplies hosting, the AI model behind diagnosis and pricing features, usage and device data collection, and account and service email delivery (see Rivvet AI's Privacy Policy at rivvetai.com/legal/privacy for how Rivvet AI handles data on our behalf). No SMS provider is in use at this time.

2.6 Data Retention

We retain personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.

Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted within 90 days of account closure. Uploaded photos and quote data are retained for up to 24 months. Usage data is retained for up to 26 months. As disclosed in Section 2.3, photos and quote data you upload are used to help train and improve our AI models, and data used in AI training may persist within the trained model itself even after the original file is deleted; we cannot retroactively remove your content from a model that has already been trained on it.

You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting caleb@honestfixapp.com, or from Account → Privacy requests in the app. We will process deletion requests within 45 days, subject to legal hold requirements.

2.7 Your Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA). California residents have the right to: Know (categories and pieces of personal information collected); Delete (subject to exceptions); Correct (inaccurate personal information); Opt Out of Sale or Sharing (we do not sell or share your personal information for behavioral advertising); Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information (to the extent applicable); and Non-Discrimination. We do not deny goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised a privacy right. To submit a request, contact caleb@honestfixapp.com or use Account → Privacy requests in the app. We respond within 45 days.

We do not treat the home photos or repair descriptions you upload as sensitive personal information under CPRA Section 1798.140(ae), and do not currently provide a separate Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information link, because this data does not fall within that section's enumerated categories.

Utah Residents (Utah Consumer Privacy Act, UCPA, effective December 31, 2023). Utah residents have the right to: Access (confirm processing and receive a copy); Delete (personal data you provided); Data Portability (a portable-format copy); and Opt Out of Sale and Targeted Advertising (we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising). Contact caleb@honestfixapp.com; we respond within 45 days.

We do not consider using your photos and quotes to train our AI models to be targeted advertising or profiling under the UCPA, because we do not use this data to select advertisements or to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal and treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, for all users regardless of state of residence. We do not respond to the legacy Do Not Track (DNT) signal, which GPC supersedes. This satisfies applicable state privacy law disclosure requirements.

2.8 Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service and analyze usage. You can control cookies via your browser settings. Disabling them may limit features. We do not currently use third-party advertising or retargeting cookies. If that changes, we will post a more detailed cookie policy, display a consent banner where required for California users, and honor the Global Privacy Control opt-out signal in states that require it.

2.9 Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Contact caleb@honestfixapp.com if you believe we have collected such information and we will delete it.

2.10 Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. No system is completely secure. We will notify you and applicable regulators of a qualifying breach as required by law.
